The fall of British tourism in Spain does not affect Lanzarote for now

The British continue to be half of the total tourists who visit the island, despite the weakness of the pound sterling

Between January and July of this year, Spain received the visit of 12.2 million British people, which is 6% less and a decrease of 793,260 tourists from the United Kingdom compared to the same period of 2019, according to data offered by Turespaña.

A phenomenon that the Sectorial Tourism Report for the first semester of this year of CaixaBank Research attributes to the "poor macroeconomic performance of the United Kingdom, the sharp rise in interest rates and the weakness of the pound sterling".

However, the British do not give up their vacations in Lanzarote. The island has received 784,899 British tourists in the same period, almost 2% more than those who arrived between January and July of 2019, when there were 769,737 people.

The British continue to be around half of the total tourists who visit the island almost every month of the year, a percentage that has been growing in recent years and that in May, for example, reached 60% of all arrivals.
