The number of tourists visiting Lanzarote increased by 49% in 2021 compared to the previous year. This increase has also been reflected in the influx to the Centers for Art, Culture and Tourism (CACT), which in 2021 received 1,728,229 visits, representing 55.66% more than in 2020, according to the Lanzarote Data Center.
Despite the significant recovery in 2021, the influx recorded in 2021 still does not reach pre-pandemic levels, as the CACTs received a total of 2,908,337 visitors in 2019.
In 2021, the most visited center was the Fire Mountains with an influx of 457,698 tourists, followed by Jameos del Agua with 437,360. In last place is the San José Castle, with 42,112 visits. This ranking remains the same as in 2020 and 2019. However, in 2021, the second least visited tourist center is the Mirador del Río - which received 243,897 visitors - while in 2020 and 2019 it was the Cactus Garden, with an influx of 153,438 and 352,212 people, respectively.
October was the month of 2021 in which Lanzarote received the most tourists, however, it ranked third in terms of the total influx of CACTs, with a figure of 225,497 people, while the months with the highest influx to the Tourist Centers were August and July (306,509 and 229,252, respectively) and the lowest were February and March (with 20,104 and 30,373, respectively).
