The Art, Culture and Tourism Centers of the Cabildo of Lanzarote have put out to tender the supply of six hybrid technology buses for the Route of the Volcanoes, in the Timanfaya National Park, two of them adapted to meet the needs of people with reduced mobility.
With a budget of 1,800,000 euros charged to the FDCAN items, the objective of the contract is to replace the four buses that have been providing this service for an average of 15 years with a more modern, safer, and more efficient fleet from the environmental point of view.
The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, has pointed out that this public tender "supports and reinforces our commitment to a new model of collective transport, more sustainable, efficient and respectful with the planet".
For his part, the CEO of the Tourist Centers, Benjamín Perdomo, pointed out that "the environmental conditions of the environment and the unique characteristics of the Route of the Volcanoes, with ramps that exceed 25%, force us to have a more modern vehicle, which transmits security to the visitor and allows, simultaneously, to contribute to reducing our carbon footprint".
Meanwhile, the Councilor for Public Works of the First Island Institution, Alfredo Mendoza, highlights the "usefulness of the Canary Islands Development Fund to build a better, more modern and sustainable island".
The technical and administrative specifications of the hybrid bus acquisition contract are already published on the CACT website for those interested in learning more.
