In April, the Canary Islands recorded its twenty-second consecutive month above one million foreign tourists, specifically 1.32 million, which allowed it to finish the first quarter with an accumulated balance of 5.68 million visitors from other countries, an unprecedented figure.

Specifically, the 1,323,722 foreign tourists who chose the Canary Islands in April to spend a few days on vacation exceed by 11.87% those who did the same in April 2024, although this difference is conditioned by the calendar effect, since this year Easter fell in April, while last month it was celebrated in March.

However, the accumulated figure of 5,685,318 does show that the arrival of tourists from other countries is growing at a rate of 4.21% compared to 2024, which was the best in history for the sector in the Canary Islands, closing the year with 15.22 million.

With this, the Canary Islands is positioned as the autonomous community that has received the most foreign tourists since the beginning of the year, ahead of Catalonia, with 5.32 million, and Andalusia, with 3.91 million.

Regarding spending, foreign tourists invoiced 1,925 million euros in their vacations to the Canary Islands in April, 15.2% more than a year ago, with an average spending of 1,454 euros per person, 3.0%.

This growth in spending was due to the arrival of more visitors and the longer duration of trips (8.6 days, 7.3% more), because spending per person per day fell by 4.0%, to 168 euros.

In accumulated data, tourist spending in the Canary Islands totals 8,788 million euros since January, 7.46% more, a figure also unprecedented in the history of the sector and which represents 25.6% of the total disbursed by foreign visitors in the country in this period.
