Lanzarote airport registered a total of 791,297 passengers last March, a record figure for a month of March on the island, which represents 14.2% more than in the same month last year, according to data provided by Aena.
In March last year there were 692,985 travelers, which already represented an increase of 14% compared to the previous year. A decade ago, in 2014, there were 506,720, 36% less than those who passed through the César Manrique last month.
The group of Canary Islands airports were about to reach 5 million travelers (4,952,941), which is equivalent to a growth of 14.4% compared to last year..
Among them, 1,761,157 flew on national routes, 11.8% more, and 3,159,914 on international routes, increasing by 17.5%.
By airports, Gran Canaria registered the highest number of passengers in March, with 1,479,738, which represents 14.7% more than in March 2023, followed by Tenerife South which, with 1,346,732 passengers, increased by 16.2% compared to 2023.
After the César Manrique is the airport of Fuerteventura with 598,861 (+10.5%); Tenerife North-Ciudad de La Laguna, with 560,916 (+13.6%); La Palma, with 138,704 (+16.5%); El Hierro, with 26,540 (+14.4%) and La Gomera, with 10,153 passengers and the highest percentage growth compared to the same month of 2023, with an increase of 28.4%.
So far this year, the Canary Islands airports have registered 13,651,816 travelers, 12.2% more than in the same period last year.
Of the 13,534,675 commercial travelers, 4,782,750 traveled on domestic flights, 10.1% more, and 8,751,925 did so on international flights, 14.4% more than the accumulated in 2023.
