The shared goal of the various economic agents of Lanzarote to attract tourism with greater purchasing power seems to be bearing fruit.
Tourist accommodations in Lanzarote increased their rates by 18.1% in 2022 compared to the prices of 2019. This is the highest increase among all the Canary Islands.
The data has been published by EXCELTUR, an association for tourism excellence formed by the presidents of 22 of the most important Spanish tourism companies, in its latest report Business balance sheet for the year 2022 and expectations for 2023.
After Lanzarote, the island whose accommodations increased their rates the most was Fuerteventura, with a growth in its rates compared to 2019 of 9.6%. In Tenerife, the growth was 8.1%, while in Gran Canaria it was limited to 6.6%.
Lanzarote, sixth destination in Spain with the highest increase
Nationally, the growth of tourist accommodation prices in Lanzarote has also been very relevant. The increase of 18.1% has only been surpassed by five destinations in the entire country.
The first place has gone to the Asturian coast, where the increase in rates compared to 2019 has been 33.7%, followed by Ibiza-Formentera, where prices have grown by 26.4%.
The third place was occupied by the island of Menorca, where a tourist room generated on average in 2022 24% more income than in 2019.
The fourth Spanish destination that increased its rates the most last year was the Costa del Sol with an increase of 19%. The Costa Brava occupied the fifth place, having entered its tourist accommodations 18.5% more per room compared to 2019.
