Lanzarote's hotels and apartments have earned 54.2 million euros in June, four million more than in 2019, despite having the same occupancy rate, around 79%, according to the Tourist Accommodation Survey of the ISTAC, collected by the Lanzarote Data Center.
This is mainly due to the increase in the daily rate of accommodation, which has become almost 20 euros more expensive in just three years, going from 73 euros per night to 90.
Specifically, staying in a hotel costs an average of 102.41 euros per day, while in apartments the figure falls to 60.30 euros. It should be noted that the data rises in comparison with the month of May, when the price was at 86.67 euros.
In terms of occupancy, the month of June has managed to reach pre-pandemic figures, in addition to exceeding those of the previous month, standing at 75.46%. The difference is even more noticeable with the numbers of 2021, since at that time it was only 26.7%, due to restrictions due to Covid, 196% lower.
In any case, June fails to unseat the months of March and April with the Easter holidays, which managed to achieve 86.11% and 80% occupancy, respectively. Nor does it do so in terms of income, since those months managed to combine 63.4 and 60.6 million euros each.
Also, in the sixth month of the year, 229,396 travelers stayed, compared to 252,030 in 2019, distributed in 184 establishments, 74 less than three years ago, and with an average stay of one week on the island.
However, despite the good employment data at the island level, marking historical records, in terms of tourist accommodation the figures are on the verge of reaching those of 2019. In June of this year, 9,750 employees were registered in the sector, compared to 10,092 before the pandemic.
