Lanzarote's hotel establishments were about to reach 130 euros per night on average last February, according to the Lanzarote Data Center based on the Tourist Accommodation Survey of the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC).
With an occupancy rate close to 90%, Lanzarote's hotels were able to increase their rates to 129.5 euros. This represents a 10.4% increase compared to February last year when the night cost an average of 117 euros.
This is a level more similar to the records that are usually reached in the most demanded part of the summer. In July last year, the average rate was 128.8 euros and in August it reached 144.5 euros.
Before the Covid 19 pandemic, February prices were usually 20% lower than those recorded in summer.
The island's hotels had already achieved a 14.5% increase in their rates in January compared to the previous January. The first month of the year they charged an average of 128.9 euros.
On the other hand, tourist apartments had to reduce their prices in February compared to the same month last year. The 1.1% reduction meant an average rate of 77.3 euros, when twelve months ago it cost 78.1 euros.
