Lanzarote airport registers almost 700,000 arrivals in March

Arrivals increase in all the airports of the islands and widely exceed 4 million travelers in March throughout the archipelago

A total of 692,985 people landed at the César Manrique airport in March, a figure that represents a 14% increase compared to the same month of last year, but is also 3.6% higher than that recorded in March 2019, before the covid 19 pandemic. 

All of the airports in the Canary Islands closed the month of March with 4,328,188 passengers, which is equivalent to 17.6% more than in March 2022 and 2.5% higher than that recorded in the same month of 2019.

Of the total number of travelers registered in March, 4,264,949 corresponded to passengers on commercial flights, of which 2,689,388 traveled on international flights, which represents a recovery of 97.5% compared to March 2019 and 15.5% more than in 2022. A total of 1,575,561 did so on domestic flights, 9.9% more than before the pandemic and 20.8% more than last year. 

 

Strong increases in all the islands

The Gran Canaria Airport registered the highest number of passengers in this third month of the year with 1,290,562 arrivals, which represents a recovery of 99% over March 2019 and an increase of 22.1% compared to the same month last year. It is followed by the Tenerife South Airport, which with 1,158,755 passengers accounts for an increase of 4.6% compared to 2019 and 16.4% over 2022.

The airport of Fuerteventura, with 541,932 arrivals, registers increases of 6.3% year-on-year and 12.9% compared to March 2019. Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna, with 493,829 (+5.5% and +17.3%); La Palma, with 119,011 (-13.2% and +30.9%) and El Hierro, with 23,205 (+16.1% and +11.9%).

In the case of La Gomera, with 7,909 passengers, it is where the highest percentage growth is recorded, with an increase of 50.8% compared to the same month of 2019 and 30.4% more than the passengers reached in March 2022.
