The Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (Istac) will launch in the second quarter of 2024 a survey in each of the islands on the perception of residents regarding the economic, social, cultural and environmental impacts of tourism activity in the archipelago.
It will be through a special module included in the Survey of Habits and Socioeconomic Confidence (Ecosoc), which has been carried out since 2018 and whose objective is to obtain indicators of social behaviors and the population's confidence in the socioeconomic situation and employment.
The population studied are people over 18 years of age who reside in main family homes in the Canary Islands, and it has been designed to be able to give results at the island level and, in Gran Canaria and Tenerife, also at the level of large regions.
Each quarter, 2,400 people are interviewed throughout the territory of the autonomous community.
The information provided for the preparation of this statistic "is very relevant" for society, for the Government of the Canary Islands and other social action institutions, since social policies are planned, evaluated and implemented for the benefit of citizens, indicates Istac in a statement.
