Haría generates four times more jobs than Arrecife with the same tourists

The northern municipality also doubles Teguise, Tías and Yaiza in number of jobs per tourist

In Haría, more than 10 jobs are generated for every 100 travelers who visit the municipality, according to the latest Tourist Accommodation Survey of the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC).

The data from the northern municipality contrasts with other municipalities on the island. In particular with Arrecife, where the arrival of 100 travelers only led to the creation of 2.5 jobs during the past month of August.

The case of Arrecife is particular because many of the tourists who visit the capital neither stay overnight nor spend too much in the city, since they only spend a few hours.

However, Haría also far exceeds other municipalities on the island, analyzed in the survey. In Teguise, for example, the arrival of 100 tourists led to the creation of an average of 4.47 jobs.

Haría's data also doubled the records of Tías, where 4.84 jobs are generated for every hundred tourists, and those of Yaiza, where they represent 5.75 jobs.

The tourist model of Haría, where retail accommodations predominate, with small owners and an abundance of vacation homes, seems to be more conducive to the creation of a greater number of jobs.

On the one hand in the accommodations themselves and on the other in all the complementary services, since there are no all-inclusive establishments in the north, so that restaurants, shops, excursions, etc. benefit.
