Tourism of the Canary Islands has published the first call of 2024 to sponsor events with tourist interest organized by private entities, which has a budget of 6.7 million euros and will prioritize the impact and sustainability of the projects presented.
The events that may be sponsored must be held between December 8 of this year and December 31, 2024 and may be cultural, sports, business, scientific or academic, gastronomic and tourist in nature.
The projects must have a verifiable tourist impact, as well as the capacity to generate advertising impact for the Islas Canarias brand.
This call for sponsorships is financed with Next Generation EU European funds, which also require a commitment to sustainability.
In all cases, the correct application of environmental criteria must be justified and when the events have a budget equal to or greater than 375,000 euros, the presentation of an independent technical report will be required.
Regarding the organization and realization of the events, they must have the incorporation of some measure of a social nature, such as the hiring of a greater number of companies or personnel for their execution, as well as people with disabilities or in a situation of special difficulty in accessing employment.
In addition, among the aspects that will be valued is the incorporation of other sectors that make up the tourism value chain, the participation of the population and regional business community, the innovative nature or the promotion of consumption and marketing of local products, among others.
Depending on the assessment obtained by the event, Turismo de Islas Canarias will assume a percentage of co-financing that will be 20% as a minimum and 40% as a maximum.
