Arrecife is experiencing an intense tourist activity this week with the arrival of five large cruise ships carrying more than 20,000 passengers. The cruise ship dock of the capital of Lanzarote has the luxurious Italian ocean liner Costa Firenze docked this Wednesday, which has premiered this autumn a tourist circuit having Lanzarote as a port of call on its routes through the North Atlantic. The ship will set sail tonight at 8:00 p.m. after arriving this Wednesday morning from the port of Valencia, with almost three days of crossing, allowing the passengers disembarked in Arrecife a greater capacity for consumption and spending.

For this Thursday, the port area of Arrecife will host the docking of two other large cruise ships. The first of them, Mv Zuiderdam, is traveling from Funchal. The other scheduled stop, according to data from the Port Authority of Las Palmas, corresponds to the ship with German tourists Mein Schiff 4, on a trip from Agadir.

'Mein Schiff 4', known in the Lanzarote port activity, has the unusual feature among the cruises that arrive in Lanzarote, that it will stay overnight on the island on Thursday night. This cruise operated by the ship division of the giant tour operator Tui, will arrive at 7:00 p.m. and will remain docked for 23 hours to continue its route on Friday afternoon, from 6:00 p.m.

On Friday, three large cruise ships will allow the disembarkation of almost 14,000 passengers

On Friday, October 20, the luxurious ocean liners 'Anthem of the Seas' and 'MSC Divina' will dock in the port area of Arrecife, jointly at the cruise ship dock in Naos, and in the Los Mármoles dock, which will show off their slender decks next to the 'Mein Schiff 4'.

Yonathan de León has highlighted that the cruise activity contributes to the capital is one of its "strengths to boost the commercial and hotel activity of the area", where the autumn and winter season generates "greater income" to the establishments around the Charco de San Ginés and the maritime front, along with Calle Real and surrounding roads.

As a result of this strength, which is also supported by the "high growth" that Arrecife is experiencing in the arrival of cruises, the City Council has promoted a 'commercial revitalization plan' during the weekends, and the days of tourist ship stopovers. In parallel, and with a 'renovation plan' of the urban image of the city, the Department of Public Works of the capital City Council has several works underway for the "modernization" of public spaces and neuralgic streets, to "prepare the city for the future". One of these actions focuses on the pedestrianization of a section of Avenida Fred Olsen, next to El Reducto beach, a natural cove that is very frequented by many tourists arriving on cruises.

The Councilor for Tourism, Commerce and Sports, Eli Merino, continues with this "revitalization" of the commercial environment of Calle Real and surrounding roads, and for this Friday and Saturday has programmed many dynamizing activities that encourage tourists and residents to transit through these streets of the capital.
