The central government will allocate 5.9 million euros from the Social Impact Fund (FIS) to the NGO Provivienda to facilitate access to affordable rental housing for vulnerable groups, both in the Canary Islands and in seven other autonomous communities
As reported this Wednesday by the Government Delegation in a statement, the Provivienda association, with almost 40 years of experience in residential inclusion, will be able to acquire with these funds 53 properties for social rent in the Canary Islands, Castilla La Mancha, Andalusia, Asturias, Extremadura, Galicia, Madrid, and Catalonia.
In addition to buying and managing housing, Provivienda offers support and training to improve the socioeconomic situation of tenants: from chronically homeless individuals with additional exclusion factors (addictions, mental health, or disability) to families with reduced incomes in highly stressed areas.
This allows them to progressively move towards higher levels of residential autonomy as their living conditions improve, the note states.
Likewise, it indicates that the FIS will provide Primero H with 1.7 million euros to finance the acquisition of 10 new properties. The objective of this listed social investment company in the real estate market is to provide affordable housing to groups in extreme vulnerability to eradicate homelessness and residential exclusion in Spain, which affects more than 37,000 people.
The FIS is a fund created by the Government in June 2024 through the addendum to the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) with an initial allocation of 400 million euros, and its objective is to strengthen the impact ecosystem through support for investment projects that generate a positive and measurable social and environmental impact, the note explains.
