Rent reaches a new high in the Canary Islands in February

The average price per square meter for rent in the archipelago is about to reach that of Euskadi

The average price of rentals in the Canary Islands reached a new high per square meter in February and reached 14.3 euros, according to data released by idealista.com.

Prices are 8.3% higher than a year ago, although they have grown below the national average, which reached an 11% increase compared to February 2024. Thus, the average price in Spain also hits a new high with the square meter at 14 euros.

In the last three months, the price has grown by 5.4%, while in the last month the increase was 0.9%.
Rents have risen in all Spanish regions since February of last year. The Community of Madrid leads the increases (14.4%), followed by Asturias (12.5%), Aragon (12.5%), Catalonia (12.1%), Comunitat Valenciana (11.8%), Andalusia (11.4%) and Castilla y León (11.2%).

Below the national average are the increases in La Rioja (10.9%), Castilla-La Mancha (9.9%), Balearic Islands (9.6%), Canary Islands (8.7%) and Region of Murcia (8.2%).

The smallest increases have occurred in Extremadura (5.7%), Navarra (6.9%), Cantabria (7.2%), Euskadi and Galicia (7.6% in both regions).

The Community of Madrid (19.2 euros per square meter) and Catalonia (18.4 euros) are the regions with the most expensive price. They are followed by the Balearic Islands (18.1 euros), Euskadi (14.4 euros) and the Canary Islands (14.3 euros). On the opposite side of the table we find Extremadura (6.8 euros) and Castilla-La Mancha (7.5 euros), which are the most economical communities.
