The local entities of Lanzarote employ almost 2,900 people

Public jobs reduced by 10% between July and September

At the end of the third quarter, a total of 2,876 public employees were counted between the Cabildo and the seven town councils, 18.4 per thousand inhabitants, with 285 fewer jobs than those registered between April and June. Between July and September, local public entities have reduced their workforce by 10%.

The Cabildo of Lanzarote employs 1,205 workers, 7.7 workers per thousand inhabitants, having reduced its workforce by 37 workers in the third quarter of the year.

Arrecife is the Town Council with the lowest rate of employees per inhabitant (7). One of the most marked decreases in employment has been registered in the Town Council of Yaiza, where the workforce was reduced by 57 workers from July to September.

 

Employment figures for the town councils

The Town Council of Arrecife employs 507 workers, 7 per thousand inhabitants, having experienced a cut of 54 workers in the third quarter of the year.

The Town Council of San Bartolomé has 275 employees and 14.4 employees per 1,000 inhabitants, with 38 fewer public workers than in the second quarter.

The council of Teguise has also reduced its number of public employees in the third quarter to a total of 265 workers, with a rate of 11.7 employees per 1,000 inhabitants and 16 fewer jobs.

Tías employs 252 people, 12.2 per 1,000 inhabitants. The cut has been 40 public employees in the third quarter.

The Town Council of Yaiza has seen its workforce reduced by 57 people in the third quarter, to 222 public workers, 13 per thousand inhabitants.

The most marked proportional decrease occurred in the Town Council of Haría, which has lost 34 public employees in the third quarter of the year. Its workforce stands at 74 workers, 14.1 per thousand inhabitants.

The Town Council of Tinajo is the one with the highest rate of public employees per inhabitant, with 20.2 per 1,000 inhabitants. Its workforce stands at 130 workers after losing 9 in the third quarter.
