The Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands, headed by Poli Suárez, begins this Monday the period for participation in the selection process for entry and access to teaching bodies, the tests for which will be held in the year 2026. The application submission period will extend until next December 22.
The Director General of Personnel and Teacher Training, Mónica Ramírez, highlighted that this call "continues the one already initiated in April, which offered nearly 1,400 positions for teachers in the archipelago for 2025 and 2026, as part of Education's commitment to a more orderly and transparent selection model, which contributes to strengthening the stability of staff on all islands".
As he explained, "these 235 positions were reserved for 2026, taking into account that they are specialties that have not been called for with the frequency of the more common ones, and since they are secondary specialties taught in Vocational Training, these teachers were in the process of transitioning to the dual system, and we considered it better to delay the exams so that they would have more preparation time".
The call includes a total of 235 positions distributed among the body of secondary education teachers; the body of official language school teachers; the body of plastic arts and design teachers; and the body of teachers specializing in unique vocational training sectors. The distribution includes positions for free entry, access from other bodies, and reservations for people with disabilities.
Regarding Secondary Education, 192 positions are announced corresponding to the specialties of Administrative Management Processes (66); Construction Project Office (12); Electronic Equipment (16); Image and Sound Techniques and Procedures (13); Installation and Maintenance of Thermal and Fluid Equipment (26); Clinical and Orthoprosthetic Diagnostic Procedures (17); Agricultural Production Processes (15); Organization and Projects of Energy Systems (9); Industrial Analysis and Chemistry (10); and Clinical Diagnostic Processes and Orthoprosthetic Products (8).
Within the teaching staff of Official Language Schools, seven positions are offered for the specialization of Spanish for Foreigners. Regarding the teaching staff of Plastic Arts and Design, fifteen positions are announced in the specializations of Volume (4); Interior Design (4); Computer Media (4); and Audiovisual Media (3).
Finally, in the body of teachers for **Specialists in Singular Vocational Training Sectors**, positions are offered for the specialties of Woodworking and Furniture Manufacturing and Installation (10); Welding (5); and Machining and Machine Maintenance (6).Of the total positions, **sixteen** will be reserved for the **disability** track. In addition, **192 will be open entry**, 25 will correspond to access from sub-group A2 to sub-group A1 in the Secondary and Plastic Arts and Design corps, and two positions will allow access to the corps of teachers of Official Language Schools by teaching officials from other corps of the same group and destination complement level
