CEL applauds the Labor Inspection campaign against the shadow economy

The Lanzarote Business Confederation (CEL) values the campaign of the Labor Inspectorate and the Government of the Canary Islands against the underground economy, a shock plan that began last week and that will contribute to reducing the high rate of irregular work that exists in the Archipelago.

The president of the CEL, Francisco Martínez, applauds this initiative and is convinced that the 23 inspectors who have joined this plan will help detect several hundred irregular jobs, as proposed by public administrations.

The president recently warned in a meeting held with the Cabildo of Lanzarote about the damage caused by this scourge not only for companies, but also for the workers of the Island, insofar as, especially after the pandemic, there has been an increase in this type of hiring.

The irregularities that are usually clarified with these shock plans allude to cases of underground economy in which workers are not registered with Social Security or where partial contracts are far below ordinary activity. This plan will be developed by four working groups, which will be established in Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote and will make visits to all the islands.
