The Government of the Canary Islands has distributed close to 9 million euros among the municipalities of the archipelago to finance projects aimed at reconciliation and the distribution of care in families, as reported by the Ministry of Social Welfare, Equality, Youth, Childhood and Families.

These funds, framed within the Co-responsible Plan, have a contribution of 75% from the Ministry of Equality and the remaining 25% from the Government of the Canary Islands and the distribution of resources, which benefit 77 island councils, is carried out through the protocol established with the Canarian Federation of Municipalities (Fecam).

The regional executive has added its own contribution of two million euros to reinforce these policies of life sustainability and attention to family interdependence.

With this funding, municipalities will be able to hire professionals of various profiles, such as technicians in early childhood education, social integration or sociocultural animation.

The plan seeks to consolidate a Municipal Network of Co-responsible Care with services available both in homes and in public and private spaces.

In addition to facilitating reconciliation, the program aims to create quality employment in the care sector and dignify the professional experience of informal care.

The Minister of Social Welfare, Candelaria Delgado, has indicated that the objective is to improve the portfolio of municipal services for families with children up to 16 years old and "promote effective equality between women and men by closing the gender gap".
