The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Area of Training and Inclusive Employment, continues with its commitment to the training and qualification of the young population and the people who participate in the Cabildo de Lanzarote-Local Corporations Employment agreement 2024-2025.

In total, nearly 200 people have taken part in the various actions developed within the framework of the Active Youth program and the agreements between the Cabildo and the town councils.

The Councilor for Inclusive Employment of the Cabildo, Ascensión Toledo, recently visited the people who have joined the job-generating project Active Youth, a project financed by the Canarian Employment Service and the European Social Fund, through the Second Chance Program of Youth Guarantee, aimed at 32 young people over 16 and under 30 years of age and whose duration will extend until December 29.

The main objective of this program is to improve the employability of young people by combining professional experience with training in key skills.

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, stressed that "the Island Institution will continue to bet on active employment and training policies as a tool for inclusion and the professional future of our young people. Investing in training is investing in the development of Lanzarote and La Graciosa and in improving the quality of life of our population."

For her part, Toledo assured that "transversal training is key to improving the employability of young people and all those who access an employment agreement. We are committed to useful training, close to the social and labor reality, that allows them to function more safely in the labor market."

In this context, courses have been taught in digital skills for employment and English basic level with a duration of 20 hours, and skills for employment through the Florece con Actitud project of 15 hours.

There has also been transversal training such as prevention of occupational hazards, computer literacy, handling of plant protection products, road safety, first aid, home economics, entrepreneurship, gender equality, addiction prevention, environmental awareness and access to FP, among others.
