The Cabildo of Lanzarote will hire 17 young people under 30 years of age through the project "Lanzarote Next 30", an employment plan that has an investment of 492,336.36 euros from the European Next Generation funds managed by the Government of the Canary Islands.
"The main objective of this new employment plan is to provide the unemployed young beneficiaries with knowledge, skills and social and professional abilities within the services provided by the public administration, providing them with work experience as well as training in digital and environmental knowledge," explains Jorge Peñas, coordinator of the Employment area that manages the hiring.
"Our goal is also for European funds to reach people's pockets and thus benefit the local economy and the entire society of the island," adds the councilor.
Specifically, people between the ages of 16 and 30 who are registered as job seekers in the Canarian Employment Service will be hired with the following profiles: a veterinarian, a biologist, two technicians in administration of computer systems in network, a technician in database administration, two technicians in care for people with dependency, an electrical technician, an air conditioning and ventilation technician, a gardening technician, a wine technician, two environmental educators, two web programmers and two administrative assistants.
"These people will be hired under the internship contract modality and will perform tasks in different departments of the Cabildo for a period of 12 months," says Jorge Peñas, who states that "the purpose is to provide the hired personnel with a practical experience that facilitates their subsequent labor insertion." In addition, "with the aim of improving the professional skills of the participants in the project, different training actions will also be carried out," Peñas points out.
The project "Lanzarote Next 30" is divided into three lines of action, so that six of the hired people will carry out activities related to green employment, another five hirings will be aimed at carrying out activities related to digital skills, and the rest to activities in general.
"This first professional experience program in the Cabildo can be an excellent opportunity for young people to acquire the practical tools for a better performance in the labor market," concludes the Employment Councilor of the institution.
