The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the 2024-2025 Employability Plan executed by the Employment Area, has managed to reinforce its collaboration with the Lanzarote Business Confederation (CEL), allocating a global amount of 320,000 euros to the implementation of new projects aimed at creating employment and promoting self-employment, especially among groups with greater difficulties in entering the workforce.

"Thanks to this institutional collaboration, the hiring of 56 unemployed people has been directly facilitated through initiatives managed by the CEL, which include subsidies to local companies to incentivize hiring and the development of specialized advice for entrepreneurs," detailed the president of the Corporation, Oswaldo Betancort.

"From the Cabildo, we have redoubled our efforts to strengthen ties with the island's business community. This collaboration with the CEL has allowed us to respond to a key need of our society: to create employment and generate opportunities for those who need it most," Betancort emphasized, who highlighted that the work of the Government group with inclusive employment "translates into facts through public-private collaboration, and not in mere promises."

"Employability Lanzarote 2024/25" has been subsidized by the Cabildo with an aid of 245,000 euros obtained from the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN); and has allowed the hiring of people based on their belonging to groups with difficult insertion such as people over 45 years of age, women in their first job, people with disabilities, or young people without basic education.

In total, 49 companies from Lanzarote and La Graciosa have benefited from these subsidies, which have represented an important economic stimulus for local employment. Most of the participating companies have a legal form of a company, although there have also been self-employed individuals who have contributed to labor insertion.

For her part, the Councilor for Training and Inclusive Employment of the Cabildo, Ascensión Toledo, pointed out that these results "reflect the real impact of the active employment policies promoted by this Corporation, which not only allow helping people who are outside the labor market, but also strengthen the local business fabric with incentives that make a difference." Likewise, Toledo highlighted the "transformative and collaborative" nature of the project with the CEL, which in her opinion "represents the model of inclusive socioeconomic development that we want for Lanzarote."

In addition to promoting hiring, the Cabildo also supports the SAE project - Business Advisory Service, endowed with a subsidy of 75,000 euros, destined to accompany, inform, and advise entrepreneurs in the necessary procedures to start their business activity.

During its current period of execution, which began in November 2024, the service has already served 178 people, with 32 new registrations in the Special Regime for Self-Employed Workers. The process includes everything from initial advice, legal processing, accompaniment during the first months of activity, and guidance in applying for available aid.
