The Teguise City Council, within the framework of the agreement signed with the Canarian Employment Service (SCE), develops the Social Employment Program 2025-2026 with a total investment of 408,423.15 euros, mostly financed through the SCE.
The program has a duration of one year and includes contracts of nine months at 75% of the working day, with the first hirings having started in December 2025.
Through this action, 27 hirings have been formalized, corresponding to 3 first-class bricklayers, 3 construction laborers, 2 second-class painters, 12 cleaning laborers, 5 caretakers, and 2 administrative assistants.
These additions allow for the direct reinforcement of municipal services linked to maintenance of public spaces, conservation of infrastructures, cleaning, attention in municipal facilities, and administrative support, contributing to improve the operational capacity of the City Council and the quality of the services provided to the citizenry.
The mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque, has pointed out that “the hiring of these 27 people represents a double benefit for the municipality, as it generates job opportunities and, at the same time, strengthens essential areas of the City Council that affect the daily lives of our residents”.
For her part, the Councilor for Employment and Human Resources, Myriam Jorge, has highlighted that "this program allows reinforcing the municipal structure in key areas, improving internal organization and guaranteeing a more effective provision of public services, in addition to providing professional experience to people in unemployment."
With this action, the Teguise City Council continues developing active employment policies that not only favor labor insertion, but also strengthen the municipal structure and improve citizen attention.
