The film sector in the Canary Islands is negotiating the first regional collective agreement, in which the union side intends to "update and dignify" the working conditions of the sector's staff, CCOO reported in a statement.

The state employers' association FECE (Federation of Cinemas of Spain), represented by its general director, and a union delegation composed of representatives from FSC-CCOO, Sindicalistas de Base and Fetico, with the support of their respective advisory teams, are participating in the negotiation table.

The main demand of the sector's workers is to have a new labor framework "adapted to the 21st century", which replaces the agreement in force since 1998.

Among the proposals that CCOO raises are the updating of salary tables, the recognition of new professional categories, the improvement of the night shift system, respect for regulations on holidays and the inclusion of days of personal affairs and extended vacations.

In addition, the union emphasizes the need to incorporate active equality policies and specific protection measures for the LGTBI+ collective into the agreement, as well as advances in rights related to temporary disability, family conciliation and digital disconnection.

This new agreement "should be a useful tool to ensure decent working conditions, stable and in accordance with the current reality of cinemas in the archipelago", CCOO emphasizes.

The Federation of Services to the Citizenry of CCOO Canarias values the willingness of all parties to build the first specific regional agreement for the cinematographic exhibition sector.
