Vehicle registration has grown 90.9% in the month of June to reach a total of 1,109 in Lanzarote, according to a report by the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC), collected by the Lanzarote Data Center.
Although the figures tend to increase in summer, in the months of June and July, it is important to mention that such a high number has not been reached since June 2018, when 1,190 registrations were recorded.
Specifically, the May figure was only 581 registrations, 528 less than in June. In addition, if compared with the same period of 2021, the difference is 89.9%, since 584 registrations occurred at that time. Currently, the accumulated figure for 2022 is 3,145 registrations, compared to 1,594 in 2021, which represents an increase of 97.3%.
By municipalities, San Bartolomé recorded more than half of the registrations, with 560 of the total, followed by Tías (280), Arrecife (178), Teguise (38), Yaiza (37), Haría (9) and, finally, Tinajo (7). The data have experienced an increase in Yaiza, Tías, San Bartolomé and Arrecife, have remained the same in Tinajo and have decreased in Haría and Teguise with respect to the previous month.
Regarding the type of vehicles, tourism continues to be the most demanded, with 976 registrations, followed by motorcycles (69), vans (21), adaptable mixed (15), buses (6) and the rest were distributed among trucks, SUVs and trailers, among others. In addition, of the 1,109 records, 766 were imported and 343 were of national manufacture.
