Meet the two Canarian businessmen who appear on Forbes’ list of the richest people in Spain

They are Eustasio López, owner of the Lopesan Hotels Group, and Wolfgang Kiessling, owner of Loro Parque.

Two businessmen from the Canary Islands once again appear among the hundred largest fortunes in Spain, according to the annual list published by Forbes magazine. This ranking includes fortunes ranging from €450 million to €1.3 billion. As in the previous year, Eustasio López, owner of the Lopesan Hotels Group, and Wolfgang Kiessling, founder of Loro Parque, are the only representatives from the archipelago in the 2025 edition.

The list continues to be led by Amancio Ortega, founder of Inditex, whose wealth is estimated by Forbes at €109.9 billion, which represents €10.3 billion less than in 2024. In second place remains his daughter, Sandra Ortega, although with a significant difference: her fortune is estimated at €10 billion, €400 million less than the previous year.

Eustasio López climbs three places compared to 2024, from 37th to 34th, as Forbes calculates that his fortune has grown by 100 million euros in the last year."This Canary Islands businessman owns the company Invertur Helsan SL, through which he holds 51% of the shares in Grupo Lopesan, a hotel company with hotels in the Canary Islands, Punta Cana, Germany, and Austria. He is also an investor and has stakes in companies such as Sacyr or Delta Island SARL, the latter in Luxembourg," the magazine details.In the case of the owner of Loro Parque, his fortune remains at 450 million euros, but his place in the ranking of the 100 richest people in Spain drops from 84th to 98th.

"Wolfgang Kiessling is the founder and president of Loro Parque, Siam Park, and Poema del Mar Aquarium, benchmarks of tourism in the Canary Islands.
