The number of passengers at Lanzarote airport increased by 12% in June, reaching 601,614

It continues to be behind Gran Canaria and Tenerife South, the two aerodromes of the Archipelago with the highest traffic.

The number of passengers at Lanzarote airport increased by 12% in June, reaching 601,614

Lanzarote airport has registered this June a 12% increase in its passenger traffic compared to the same month last year, with a total of 601,614. The island's aerodrome continues this month to be the third in the Canary Islands in terms of passenger volume, behind those of Gran Canaria and Tenerife South, with 921,616 (+8.8%) and 832,898 (+12.3%) respectively.

In total, the airports of the Canary Islands have received 3,329,129 passengers during this month of June, 10% more than in the same period of 2016. Of the total figure, just over 2 million correspond to international traffic, which has increased by 11.5%; and nearly one million to national traffic, which has increased by 7.5%.

Fuerteventura airport is located just behind Lanzarote in the volume of passengers, with 473,775 (+8.3%). This is followed by Tenerife North, with 389,957 (+7.7%); La Palma, with 91,565 (+ 7.9); and El Hierro, with 14,668 (+18.9%). For its part, the airport of La Gomera has been the only one that has experienced a decrease in passengers, specifically, 4.5% less, with 3,036 travelers.

 

So far this year, traffic has increased by 8% compared to 2016


Regarding the number of operations, the airports of the archipelago registered 3.7% more, with 28,703. Of the total, 12,543 were international (+9.5%) and 14,691 national (-0.1%). The cargo traffic was 3,147 tons transported, 10.6% less than in June 2016.

So far this year, the number of passengers registered in the Canary Islands airports amounted to 20,967,469, 8% more than in the same period of 2016. Of the total, around 14.2 million corresponded to international flights, 9.8% more; and about 6.5 to national flights, 4.8% more. The number of operations registered during this period increased by 4.2%, with 181,346; and the traffic of goods transported decreased by 0.5%, with 18,798 tons.
