The Labor and Social Security Inspection (ITSS), attached to the Ministry of Labor and Immigration and the Department of Employment, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands, has detected a total of 3,379 undeclared jobs in the first semester of this year.
This is clear from a report by this entity, which indicates that a total of 13,304 files have been carried out, representing a total of 2,535 infractions in the labor field and including inspections for the prevention of occupational hazards, social security or immigration.
The work of the ITSS has also resulted in the opening of a total of 488 sanctioning files in the area of occupational risk prevention, as well as the detection of gray employment -more hours worked than those included in the contracts-, an area where the inspection has acted "with good results", according to the Canarian Government in a statement.
The General Director of Employment, Gloria Gutiérrez, points out that part of the money collected from this type of sanctions is used to organize courses on occupational risks.
The General Directorate of Labor proposes to launch a diagnosis that analyzes the situation of irregular employment and the underground economy in the Archipelago in order to uncover undeclared work.
