The 27 Fishermen's Associations of the Canary Islands will receive more than "one million euros" in subsidies. The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food Sovereignty of the Government of the Canary Islands has published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC) the final granting of subsidies for current expenses to the Fishermen's Associations, their Federations and Maritime Cooperatives, worth "1,090,000 euros" of own credits of the Autonomous Community.

A total of "27 entities from the eight islands", that is, all applicants, are benefiting from these funds, corresponding to the year 2023. The area's councillor, Narvay Quintero, commented that this line of aid is intended to "finance various activities and expenses related to their operation, management and to improve professionalization", He adds that "this promotes associationism and contributes to the strengthening of the fishing sector in the Archipelago".

In addition, "expenses generated as a result of the development of professional activities, such as labor, tax and legal advice services" are financed.

The Canarian Executive also supports Fishermen's Associations, their Federations and Maritime Cooperatives with a second line of subsidies aimed at investments to improve their equipment, endowed with 400,000 euros.
