La Consejería de Agricultura, Ganadería, Pesca y Soberanía Alimentaria del Gobierno de Canarias has published the granting of two lines of aid to the dairy industry and artisanal cheese factories.

The goat and sheep milk producers will receive 6.42 million euros in aid, while for artisan cheese dairies 1.47 million will be allocated.

A total of 551 people have taken advantage of these support measures financed by the European Agricultural Guarantee Fund (FEAGA), specifically 154 in the cheese dairies and 397 in the milk producers.

The sector's counselor, Narvay Quintero, highlighted that these aids “are essential to sustain goat and sheep dairy production in the Canary Islands, as well as to support the work of the dairy industry and artisanal cheese factories, which play a fundamental role in the maintenance of the primary sector and of the socioeconomic fabric of our rural areas”.

Likewise, Quintero pointed out that this support “contributes to boosting local production and to guaranteeing the supply of local products, strengthening the viability of farms and of the industry linked to the sector”.

The aid will be paid into the current accounts that appear in the application of each beneficiary person for the quantities of milk acquired from farmers or produced by them, and used in the production of the products in the period comprised between January 1 and June 30, 2025.
