The majority of Lanzarote residents surveyed in the Canary Islands Socio-barometer for the month of November have stated that the current economic situation on the island is from "fair" to very bad. This is reflected in the Canary Islands Socio-barometer of November 2023, prepared by the UNED.
In total, 51.2% estimate that it is "fair", compared to 20.1% who consider it to be bad or very bad. Meanwhile, 28.7% believe it is good or very good.
This represents an improvement compared to the average for the Archipelago, where the 3,200 respondents resolved in 50.4% that it was "fair", 26.2% stated that it was bad or very bad, compared to 23.2% who stated that it was good or very good.
However, the economic situation in the islands has gone from being perceived by more than 56.4% as bad or very bad in February 2021 to the current 26.2%. Meanwhile, by parameters only 0.5% of islanders considered the situation to be "very good", compared to 22.1% who considered it to be good.
Meanwhile, the people of Lanzarote perceive that the economic situation of the entire Archipelago is also mostly from "fair" (50.3%) to very bad (25.9%). At this point, it is noteworthy that 22.5% believe it is good or very good.
Regarding the Spanish economy, the people of Lanzarote opined that it is in a negative position. In total, they noted in 36.2% of cases that the situation is bad to very bad, and in 34.1% of cases it is "fair". All this, compared to 26.1% of people who rated it as good or very good.
Future expectations
Most of the people of Lanzarote do not expect the economic situation to change in the coming year. Specifically, 51.6% expect it to remain the same as before. Meanwhile, 23.2% are more optimistic and expect an improvement.
