Lanzarote's tourist accommodation establishments closed June with an average occupancy of only 26.11%. A figure that, however, is the highest recorded so far this year and is almost seven points higher than the previous month, which was 19.5%.
In June, there were 104 hotels and extra-hotel complexes on the island that were open, the same number as in May. However, the number of places offered was higher, specifically 40,162 compared to the 30,328 that were offered the previous month, according to figures from the Tourist Accommodation Survey of the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (Istac) published in the Cabildo Data Center.
Regarding billing, the occupancy registered in June allowed the island's accommodation establishments to earn 9.3 million euros last month, 3.7 more than in May.
Specifically, Lanzarote's hotels and extra-hotel complexes received 49,994 travelers in June compared to 35,798 the previous month, which represents an increase of 14,196 people. In addition, the average stay increased, from 4.51 to 5.43 nights, as well as the number of overnight stays, from 150,572 to 249,254.
The average daily rate of accommodation establishments also increased slightly in June, being 73.21 euros compared to 71.78 in May. This was due to the increase in price in hotels, whose average rate went from 81.70 to 82.91 euros. And, in extra-hotel establishments, there was a slight decrease
Finally, employment increased by 307%. And, compared to the 3,418 jobs that existed in May, a month later there were 13,932, which represents 10,514 more jobs.
