For the sixth consecutive year, institutions and business entities of Lanzarote are joining forces to launch a Christmas message that promotes work and family balance through the early closure of commercial establishments at 6:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.

This year, the General Directorate of Commerce and Consumer Affairs of the Government of the Canary Islands is leading the campaign, which places special emphasis on the need to promote consumption in local businesses during the holidays.

The proposal has a double purpose. On the one hand, to make it easier for shop employees to enjoy family celebrations from the early hours of the afternoon. On the other hand, to remind citizens of the importance of making their purchases in local businesses, which are the pillars of the island's economy.

The campaign, promoted by the General Directorate of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, has the collaboration of the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, the Lanzarote Business Confederation, Comisiones Obreras and UGT, which reinforce the importance of the message.

Local commerce: the heart of the Christmas economy

The call for local consumption becomes the main axis of this sixth edition of the campaign. The organizers recall that opting for local commerce not only generates employment and wealth in the environment, but also ensures a sustainable economic cycle.

"Every purchase in a local store means direct support for small business owners and workers on the island, who in turn reinvest in the community, generating stability and economic growth for all," they emphasize from the General Directorate of Commerce and Consumer Affairs.

The campaign also invites consumers to advance their purchases to allow for work-life balance in the commercial sector on December 24 and 31, thus joining a tradition that promotes social responsibility and empathy.

Businesses that wish to participate can download informative materials, such as posters for their shop windows, which will help to make their commitment to this measure visible.

The initiative sends a clear message to both companies and consumers: betting on local commerce and planning purchases in advance not only improves the Christmas experience, but also has a lasting impact on the economy and social relations of the community.
