The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Food Sovereignty of the Government of the Canary Islands has announced aid aimed at supporting local hen egg production, within the framework of the Community Support Program for Agricultural Productions of the Canary Islands (POSEI) for the 2025 campaign, funded by the European Agricultural Guarantee Fund (EAGF).
The councilor for the area, Narvay Quintero, stressed that "this call incorporates the 12.5% increase that the Government of the Canary Islands requested from the European Commission to alleviate the costs derived from the outermost region status of the Archipelago and to promote the laying hen sector under the same conditions as in any other European region".
In this way, the unit amount of the aid increases to 0.08 euros for each dozen of hen's eggs produced and marketed in the Islands.
In addition, a **10% bonus** will be paid to beneficiaries who have received aid for the installation of young farmers from the Rural Development Program (PDR Canarias) or the Strategic Plan of the CAP (PEPAC) in the current year or in the four previous years, and who maintain said condition in the campaign subject to the aid provided for in this call.
The beneficiaries of these grants can be individual producers or those grouped into associations or organizations dedicated to the production and marketing of this product in the Archipelago, provided they meet the requirements established in the call.
The applications to be eligible for this call will be submitted through the Electronic Headquarters of the Public Administration of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, in accordance with the standardized model that will be accessible through said headquarters, between January 15 and January 31, 2026, inclusive.
