Lanzarote deploys its strategy at Fitur as a "safe, sustainable and unique destination in the world"

The president of the Cabildo and the island's Minister of Tourism Promotion are leading the more than 20 meetings planned with the main tour operators in order to promote the reactivation of national tourism ahead of the imminent summer season.

Lanzarote at Fitur 2021

The Lanzarote delegation transferred to Fitur 2021, headed by the president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo, and the Minister of Tourism Promotion, Ángel Vázquez, will deploy in what is considered one of the three most important tourism fairs in the world an "intense and busy work agenda focused on reinforcing the promotion of Lanzarote as a safe and sustainable destination, a leader in innovation, and unique in the world for its genuine landscape and environmental characteristics."

"We are going to focus on making the best of our destination known to tour operators in order to attract and support the reactivation of one of our essential and most beloved markets, such as the peninsular market," said the president during the traditional visit to the Lanzarote stand by the president of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, with which Fitur 2021 kicked off on Wednesday morning, in an edition characterized by the absence of physical promotional materials and strongly marked by the security measures imposed by the pandemic.

"We have been working tirelessly since the beginning of the pandemic and making a great effort to reposition Lanzarote in the place it deserves: we are a special and different island, with an unparalleled nature and art combination, and we want to convey to our markets that Lanzarote is a connected, intelligent, sustainable and safe tourist destination," Corujo stressed during this meeting, which was also attended by the island's Minister of Tourism, Ángel Vázquez, and his counterpart in the Canary Islands Government, Yaiza Castilla.

For his part, Ángel Vázquez pointed out that "the national market is among the most related to our destination and is one of the most interesting for the island, due to its high level of spending and the search for a variety of experiences that Lanzarote offers, through the product clubs that we have well defined, such as, in addition to the sustainable product, the gastronomic product, which takes on a specific weight through Saborea Lanzarote, or the sports product, under the umbrella of European Sports Destination, among others."

National tourism and Lanzarote Premium

In order to reinforce the foreseeable reactivation of national tourism ahead of the imminent summer season, the Lanzarote delegation, together with the SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote team, led by its CEO, Héctor Fernández, is facing an intense activity that concentrates in just two days more than 20 meetings with national operators and airlines, as well as Spanish Tourism Offices (OETs) in Premium international markets within the strategy of attracting high-end tourism.

The Lanzarote delegation, which brought forward its visit to Madrid by one day in order to meet with the airline Iberia Express and the luxury travel agency Nuba, will hold working meetings between Wednesday and Thursday with representatives of the company Vueling; the travel agencies Logitravel, Viajes El Corte Inglés, eDreams, Minube, Destinia.com, atrapalo.com and lastminute.com; the tour operators Travelplan and Soltour, the Avoris group; and the tourist service provider W2M (world2meet). It will also present the complete offer of active, rural and sports tourism linked to nature to the Spanish Confederation of Travel Agencies (CEAV).

The representatives of Turismo Lanzarote also have planned a series of meetings with the directors of the OETs that Turespaña has in Los Angeles, Brussels, Miami, New York and The Hague, within the framework of Lanzarote Premium.

The Madrid tourism event also has the presence of the CEO of the CACTs, Benjamín Perdomo, and the Councilor for Tourism of Tías, Mame Fernández, as well as the president of the Lanzarote Tourism Federation, Susana Pérez, in addition to directors and representatives of the island's business sector.
