The rapprochement between Morocco and Lanzarote is a fact, and not only because of the geographical proximity but also because of the efforts being made by the institutions to promote trade and business. A Moroccan delegation headed by Abdellah Blihi, general secretary of the Prefectoral Council of Agadir, was invited by the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote to visit the island, on the occasion of the visit that the diplomatic delegation is making to all the islands.
The peculiarity offered by the island of Lanzarote, compared to the capital islands of the Canary archipelago, is the real possibility of creating a two-way trade between the Canary Islands and Morocco, something that can materialize in the near future with great intensity, especially with the region of Agadir (since there is a commitment to establish a maritime connection with Lanzarote soon).
Lanzarote offers Moroccan companies knowledge about tourism development and a sustainable model in management as a 'Biosphere Reserve', while the Sous Massa Drâa region (where Agadir is located) offers a myriad of horticultural products that Lanzarote needs. This reality establishes a mutual benefit and business opportunities are presented for both local employers and Moroccan entrepreneurs.
'Come to buy at the sales in Europe'
The president of the Foreign Trade Commission of the Chamber of Lanzarote, Santiago Díaz, explained the excellent acceptance of the project "Come to buy at the sales in Europe" which contemplates bringing Moroccan citizens to Lanzarote, to buy during sales periods, taking advantage of the upcoming maritime connection between Lanzarote and Agadir. An initiative that has generated good expectations among businesses on the island, which would be greatly benefited.
