Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, the only Islands where electricity demand increased in the first quarter of 2014

The demand for electrical energy grew on the island of Lanzarote by 2 percent during the first three months of 2014 compared to the same period of the previous year. During the indicated time, Endesa faced an electricity demand on the island of 194.8 gigawatts hour.

By Islands, demand decreased in the Canary Islands by 2 percent. It only increased by 2 and 2.2 percent in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, respectively. In the rest of the Islands, it decreased. The largest decrease occurred in El Hierro, where it fell by 3.9 percent, followed by Gran Canaria with a drop of 1.7 percent, La Gomera (-1.3%), Tenerife (-1.2%) and La Palma (-0.5%).

On the other hand, the gross production of the Punta Grande plant totaled 197.7 gigawatts hour during this same period, which represents an increase of 3.6 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. As of March 31, 2014, the Punta Grande plant had an installed capacity of 231.0 megawatts.
