The Spanish Group of Insurance Entities for Combined Agricultural Insurance (Agroseguro) has paid a total of 416,116 euros to insured vineyard producers in Lanzarote for claims registered in the last campaign, mainly caused by **the lack of rainfall**. The amount paid is 60% more than the compensation in 2024, when the damage to Lanzarote's vineyards reached 252,000 euros

In total and throughout the entire campaign, Agroseguro has received claims from almost 1,700 insured plots. Thus, practically 100% of the policies taken out have registered a claim

Wine Grape Insurance in Lanzarote

The insured vineyard area in Lanzarote has increased at a rate of 8% annually over the last two campaigns, reaching 540 hectares insured in 2025. The insured production is already close to 1,300 tons, with insured capital of 1.8 million euros. This boost in contracting is supported by the current climate reality and significant public backing for insurance policies

In total, the sum of the subsidy granted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food - through ENESA - and the Government of the Canary Islands to Lanzarote's winegrowers reached 65% of the insurance cost in 2025, with the remaining 35% to be borne by the policyholders.

Once the grape harvest and the 2025 campaign have concluded, the enrollment period for the 2026 campaign is open until December 20th.
