Iberia Express met with the Minister of Tourism and Employment of the Canary Islands, Jéssica de León, during FITUR to present its perspectives for 2026.

In the summer season, the airline will strengthen its "air bridge" between Lanzarote and Madrid with three weekly flights. The airline also maintains its connections with Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, La Palma, and Tenerife (to the north and south airports).

"Our **main focus is on the Canary Islands**, to support tourism and facilitate travel for residents. We are managing our fleet as efficiently as possible to strengthen our position in our main markets, and the Canary Islands are an absolute priority for us," said Carlos Gómez, CEO of Iberia Express during the meeting.

In the summer season that begins next March 29, the airline has scheduled up to 360 weekly flights to the archipelago. Residents in the Canary Islands make up more than 40% of Iberia Express's customers.

In 2025, 20% of Iberia Express flight customers were connecting passengers, and 12% connected to international destinations in Europe and Latin America. "The Canary Islands are the most important market for Iberia Express" and, in 2025, the airline operated nearly 17,000 flights to the archipelago, with an average on-time departure rate of 92.99%, which has helped position Iberia Express as the most punctual airline in Europe in 2025.Within the archipelago, the routes with the best performance in departure punctuality were La Palma with 95.76%, followed by Lanzarote with 93.88%, and Fuerteventura with 93.61%. Tenerife North follows with 93.01%, Gran Canaria with 92.31%, and Tenerife South with 92.14%.
