Gasoline already costs less than a year ago in Lanzarote

Fuels have not yet recovered the prices prior to the start of the war, but they already cost less than twelve months ago, when the conflict caused the first of a series of increases

The beginning of the war in Ukraine at the end of February last year boosted the price of fuels. In Lanzarote, 95 gasoline went from costing 1.27 euros per liter that same month of February to being worth 20 cents more in March.

From there, its price did not stop increasing until it reached its maximum in June last year when the liter was sold at 1.648 euros. To compensate for the increase, the Government introduced a 20-cent discount from April 1, which it withdrew at the end of 2022. After nine months of declines, the price of 95 gasoline has not yet returned to the values prior to the start of the war, but at least it already costs less than twelve months ago.

At the end of last March, its price has marked on average on the island 1.401 euros per liter, according to the Data Center of Lanzarote. Which means that it currently costs 5.3% less than a year ago, when the first rise due to the beginning of the conflict marked 1.480 euros per liter on average in Lanzarote.

Also the average price of 98 gasoline, which is currently sold on the island at an average of 1.499 euros per liter, is lower than that marked by gas stations twelve months ago, specifically 4.3% less, when the average cost was 1.566 euros per liter. In June last year it reached its historical maximum in Lanzarote, then it was sold at 1.754 euros.

For its part, diesel, which is currently sold on the island at approximately 1.452 euros, is also cheaper than a year ago, when it cost 1.413. That is, the liter of diesel now costs 2.7% less. Its historical maximum also occurred in June last year when it was sold at 1.638 euros on average.

The cheapest 95 gasoline is in Tías, the diesel in Playa Blanca

In Lanzarote, the cheapest 95 gasoline is sold this month at the PCAN in Tías, where it costs 1.316 euros per liter. Next, the cheapest price is offered at the SPL establishment, also in Tías, where it is sold at 1.329 euros.

To find the cheapest 98 gasoline on the island, you have to go to Haría, where Texaco sells it at 1.429 euros per liter. Very close, also in Haría, the PCAN of Arrieta has the same price.

As for diesel, the best price is currently found in Marina Rubicón, Playa Blanca, where it is sold at 1.269 euros per liter. The second best price on the island is at the PCAN of Tías, where it costs 1.29 euros per liter.
