Exolum will invest 12 million euros for the construction of a new aviation fuel storage terminal and a new loading dock for refueling units at the Lanzarote airport. These new infrastructures will allow to offer a better service to the different operators of the airport with the maximum level of efficiency.
The new facility will have a minimum storage capacity of 6,000 cubic meters, distributed in three aerial tanks, and will have space reserve and facilities for the construction of a fourth tank in the future. It will also have two positions for the simultaneous unloading of tanker trucks and a loading position for contingency situations.
For its part, the new refueling unit loading dock will have four positions for loading Jet A1. Both facilities will be connected by an underground pipeline between them. On this air side there will also be a loading and unloading facility and a 3,000 liter storage tank of AVGAS 100LL.
As part of the complete remodeling, new access roads and parking areas for boarding equipment will be built. Likewise, important improvements will be made in terms of energy efficiency, such as the construction of a photovoltaic energy production facility, and charging points for electric vehicles will be installed. These new infrastructures will also have the most modern security and environmental protection equipment.
The project also contemplates the dismantling of the current facility and the existing oil pipeline and, once the works are completed, which will last approximately 3 years, the company will operate the new facility for a period of 12 years.
The Lanzarote airport is the second airport that Exolum operates in the Canary Islands, together with Tenerife South, which consolidates the company's position to continue growing in the archipelago in the sector of management of storage and distribution infrastructures for aviation fuels in which Exolum has great experience, carrying out this activity in airports both in Europe and Latin America.
