The Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands has published the call for scholarships for students participating in Dual Vocational Training projects, corresponding to the 2021/22 academic year, endowed with funds worth three million euros.
The scholarships will be used to provide economic coverage for the period in which the training modules are carried out in the company, with a deadline for submitting applications that will begin this Tuesday, June 14, and will last for 10 business days.
They will be granted to students who have completed their training period in the company or collaborating companies and prove that they have fulfilled the obligations derived from their participation, both in terms of compliance with schedules, as well as the calendar and internal regulations of the companies, as well as what is established for their study program.
The procedure for granting aid will be processed under a non-competitive regime, in order of presentation of applications and the amount to be received will be established based on the number of days of stay in the company during the training period, at a rate of 30 euros per day, for stays of six hours per day.
According to the Minister of the educational department, Manuela Armas, "this educational offer aims to improve the professional qualification of students and their adaptation to the needs of the business fabric."
"The Canarian executive implemented the aid last year, aimed at students of this training modality, a public education offer of high employability and labor success that will allow us to get out of the crisis with better professionals, better tools and greater knowledge of the economic and social demands of our community," she adds.
It should be noted that the amount allocated to these grants went from 583,878.45 euros in the last year, when they were convened for the first time, to the current figure, which represents an increase of more than 2.4 million euros. The aid line is financed by the Recovery Assistance Fund for Cohesion and the Territories of Europe (REACT-EU), through the "Next Generation EU" instrument.
In addition, in the current call, the autonomous government has established that this amount may be increased if situations of victim of gender violence are accredited, being part of a large family, having a dependent child under 12 years of age or with a disability equal to or greater than 33%, suffering a disability equal to or greater than 33%, that there is a distance greater than 20 kilometers between the educational center and the work center where the training stay takes place or carrying out practical training on a split day.
