The Trade Union Confederation (USO) has called a strike of cabin crew (TCP) in easyJet in Spain for June 25, 26 and 27, with the aim of equating their working and salary conditions with those of other European bases of the airline.
The call is for 657 crew members from the company's bases in Spain located in Barcelona, Alicante, Malaga and Palma de Mallorca, and will have an impact on the operation of 21 aircraft, as reported this Tuesday by USO in a statement. The convening union informed La Voz that, in principle, no impact is expected in Lanzarote.
This announcement takes place one day before the one set by the Interconfederal Mediation and Arbitration Service (SIMA) to summon the parties for a conciliation act, scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, with the aim of reaching an agreement that allows the strikes to be called off.
The union denounces salary differences that range between 30 and 200% compared to other European bases of the company, despite the fact that "the cost of living in Spain has been equated with Europe", according to the general secretary of USO in easyJet Spain, Pier Luigi Copello.
According to him, the current salaries of TCP in Spain remain around the minimum interprofessional salary and the economic proposals made by the company in the framework of the negotiation of the III Collective Agreement are "insufficient and far from the socio-economic reality of the country". The strike is called in a context of deadlock in the negotiations, which according to the union are in "absolute disagreement" regarding the salary issue.
In statements to EFE, the company hopes that, if the strike goes ahead, there will be some alterations in its flight program from and to the four bases in which the protest has been called.
It is "disappointed" with this action "at this critical time of the year", when the holidays begin, and says that it remains open to "constructive" dialogue with the organizers.
