The Port Authority of Las Palmas, at the proposal of the Maritime Captaincy and after the request of the Corporation of Pilots to said body, will close the ports of Puerto del Rosario and Arrecife due to the derived meteorological inclemencies of storm Therese that will hit the Canary Islands starting this Wednesday.
Specifically, the Port of Puerto del Rosario will remain closed from 12:00 hours this Thursday, March 19, until 18:00 hours on Friday, March 20. In this case, south winds of more than 40 knots are expected, which will make it difficult for maneuvers at sea to be carried out safely.
For its part, the Port of Arrecife will close from 12:00 hours this Thursday until 24:00 hours, as a yellow alert is forecast for very strong southerly winds. The Port of Las Palmas, for now, does not see its activity affected and will continue working with total normality.
The Port Authority of Las Palmas has communicated to the mayors of the capitals of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote the closure of both ports, within the framework of the close cooperation and fluid communication it maintains with the rest of the public administrations.
