The Lanzarote-based vehicle rental company, CICAR, has received the FIJET Award for the Best Transport Company operating in Spain in 2024. The distinction has been awarded by the Spanish Federation of Tourism Journalists.
The FIJET Awards recognize and honor entities, organizations, projects, and destinations in the field of tourism, valuing excellence in the management of the different actors, as well as the promotion of tourism. The award ceremony took place within the framework of the International Tourism Fair, Fitur, which is being held these days in Madrid.
The president of the Federation, Miguel Ángel González, was in charge of presenting the award to Mamerto Cabrera, CEO of CICAR.
Cabrera thanked for the award and recalled that, in order to be competitive, "the principles and values that guide our work every day continue to be the same ones that our father instilled in 1967, when he started in the rent a car world with only five vehicles, which are kindness and closeness, safety and customer satisfaction, simplicity and a desire to excel."
The CICAR family was supported at the event by the presidents of the island councils of Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, and El Hierro, as well as by several mayors, who agreed to praise "the exemplary trajectory and the company's firm commitment to the entire Canarian society."
CICAR belongs to the Cabrera Medina business group, founded on the island of Lanzarote in 1967, and leads the car rental segment in the Canary Islands. It has more than 60 offices spread throughout the regional geography and has a fleet of more than 17,000 vehicles.
