Almost one hundred new businesses have opened in Tías in the first half of the year

These are mostly establishments linked to restaurants and dedicated to retail trade. Most have opened in Puerto del Carmen...

A total of 93 new businesses have opened their doors in the municipality of Tías in the first six months of the year. This was stated by the Councilor for Classified Activities of the Tías City Council, Olivier Roper, who indicates that most are located, fundamentally, in Puerto del Carmen, but also highlights a significant volume of new business in the central area of Tías.

"These are excellent data that reflect the good performance of our municipality's economy", says Roper. "Thanks to the measures promoted by the municipal government group, such as the elimination of fees for opening new companies and commercial premises or the elimination of the construction tax for new buildings, extensions and reforms, it also contributes to the revitalization of our economy and the generation of new jobs".

"In fact," continues the councilor, "Tías continues to be one of the municipalities on the island where the most employment is created". "Precisely, and according to the latest report published by the Cabildo Data Center, during the past month of July 1,483 new contracts were registered in the municipality of Tías, reaching an accumulated total, so far this year, of 8,091 new hires", they point out from the City Council.

According to reports from the department of classified, entertainment and harmless activities, the majority of the new establishments that have opened in the municipality of Tías during the first semester of 2015 are linked to activities in the restaurant sector, such as cafeterias, bars and restaurants, but other companies have also been launched, among which retail trade of food and beverages, textile products, perfumery and cosmetic products or activities related to transport stand out.

"New business niches that become new employment opportunities"

For his part, the mayor of Tías, Pancho Hernández, affirms that his government "will continue to bet on the implementation of measures that favor new entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized companies, which are the ones that generate employment." "From the government group," continues the mayor, "we are very satisfied that new business niches are created in our municipality, which in turn become new employment opportunities."

In this sense, the mayor highlighted the future investment of 2 million euros in the project for the transformation of the Avenida Central Alcalde Florencio Suárez de Tías, which "will improve and modernize the area", with new street furniture and a large promenade area with gardens where the opening of outdoor terraces will be allowed.
