About 40 people from Intersindical Canaria have gathered this Thursday at 11:00 am in front of the Hotel Princesa Yaiza, in Playa Blanca, to protest against the layoffs. "We have had a very acceptable participation", said Juan Jiménez, one of the members of this union.
In addition, they have made an hour and a half tour around the hotel complex. According to Juan Jiménez, many workers have not attended the concentration, as they feel "intimidated". "It is very difficult to get them to mobilize," he said.
However, he indicated that the representatives of Intersindical Canaria in the Hotel Princesa Yaiza did attend the protest. With this concentration, the union wanted to denounce the dismissals that have occurred over the last few years, especially of members of Intersindical.
In this sense, he indicated that a cook who is a member of the union has been dismissed, as well as the newly appointed delegate of the union section. Juan Jiménez considered that these actions show the "despotic and anti-union" attitude of the management of the Hotel Princesa Yaiza.
