The Lanzarote Guidance, Mediation and Family Meeting Point Center will open its doors on Friday

The Castillo de San José hosted the presentation of the Lanzarote Family Guidance, Mediation and Meeting Point Center (OMEPEL) last Friday. The event was presided over by the presiding judge of Arrecife, Aurora García Martínez, and the director of the center.

This is the first company in Lanzarote that will provide a solution to a social need, with its guidance, mediation, training and family meeting point services. It will open to the public this Friday, February 1st and its services will be accessible to anyone who requires it. Lawyers may also recommend that families attend this center and, on a voluntary basis, the Courts or other institutions may refer people who need it.

From this company they trust that with family mediation, through peaceful communication and outside the judicial context of couples, agreements can be reached for their separation or divorce. In this way, confrontations and non-compliance in the procedures will be avoided, the effect of the separation and contentious procedures will be reduced, and co-parenting can be promoted, as well as increasing the self-esteem of parents and children and their cooperation.

The Lanzarote Family Meeting Point is a specialized social resource for intervention in those situations of family conflict in which the relationship of minors with a parent or member of their family is interrupted or difficult to develop. Its objective is the normalization of the conflict situation. Thus, it has three types of service which are supervised visit with intervention, visit without intervention with surveillance, entry and collection.
