The "Competitive Regenerative Innovation" program focuses on improving ecosystems, not just maintaining them.

Responsible innovation in companies for ecosystem regeneration

The Center for Innovation and Business Development of the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, in collaboration with SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote, has presented the "Competitive Regenerative Innovation" Program, which proposes going beyond sustainability by recovering biological cycles and creating value in the process.

The initiative is part of the Chamber's strategy to position Lanzarote as a sustainable island and provides companies with resources to help them understand responsible management models. It will also support them on their path towards sustainability by promoting the development of innovative regenerative practices in their territory.

Who can participate?

The program is focused on "truly leading companies, capable of seeing opportunities coming and sensitive to the footprint that their activity leaves on the island of Lanzarote," explains the Chamber. Registration is still open.

The program includes various individual advisory and support services, provided by La Buena Huella Strategic Consultancy. All this at no cost to the company. Businesses that participate will receive a diagnosis of the situation in economic, social, environmental, cultural and good governance aspects. In addition, at the end, they will have an Action Plan with practical proposals for regenerative innovation to implement.

What does regeneration mean in this context?

The big difference between regeneration and sustainability is that "while the latter aims to maintain what already exists for use by future generations, regenerative design seeks to improve ecosystems," explains the Chamber.

The United Nations has highlighted in recent years the importance of this concept to "protect and regenerate all the world's ecosystems for the benefit of people and nature, through the circular and collaborative economy."

The consultant responsible for providing these consultancies has been Víctor Fernández, a consultant specialized in business and sustainability, founding partner and executive director of La Buena Huella and The Good Concierge. Fernández is the creator of the Competitive Regenerative Activity model.

The CIDE Network of the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa and Turismo Lanzarote, promote this program aimed at companies from any sector interested in moving towards this model through the consultancy La Buena Huella.

The CIDE Network is an initiative of the Ministry of Economy, Knowledge and Employment of the Government of the Canary Islands, promoted through the Canary Agency for Research, Innovation and Information Society (ACIISI), and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, with a co-financing rate of 85% within the framework of the ERDF Operational Program Canary Islands 2014-2020.
