The Teguise City Council has presented the new edition of the Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Fair 2025, with an extensive program of activities aimed at all ages. From June 5 to 8, those interested can enjoy workshops and events at the Teguise Agrotechnological Center that highlight the work of the primary sector.
The presentation was attended by the mayor Olivia Duque; the president of the Island Council, Oswaldo Betancort; the director of the Canary Islands Institute of Agri-Food Quality (ICCA), Luis Arráez; the president of the Federation of Agricultural and Fisheries Associations (FASAT), Omar Viñas, as well as representatives of different municipalities.
Mayor Olivia Duque thanked the different island entities, as well as the Corporation, city councils and associations for their collaboration and participation in this event, which marks an "annual and essential event in Teguise." "I invite the entire population to enjoy this great event that showcases the work of our farmers, ranchers and fishermen, as well as the local product," she said.
For his part, the president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, pointed out that this fair "has become an essential event for the primary sector of our island and a meeting point between tradition, innovation and community." Betancort added that "we must value the products of our land and the tireless work of all those who, from humility, have managed to make the aridity flourish and that our landscape is culture recently recognized as an Important System of World Agricultural Heritage (SIPAM) by the United Nations."
Luis Arráez thanked the Government of the Canary Islands for the invitation and pointed out that "we are going to collaborate in different events, such as the cheese contest, the handling of yokes and, in addition, from the ICCA we will bring, as last year, a complementary activity on a plan of fruits and vegetables to raise awareness of its importance."
In this sense, the president of FASAT, Omar Viña, explained the different events, acts and workshops that will be carried out in this new edition. "Our sector is recognized thanks to our elders who have managed to transfer, over time, this knowledge and strength to the new generations," he said.
The entities that sponsor and collaborate in this meeting, in addition to the Teguise City Council, the Lanzarote Island Council, the Federation of Agricultural and Fisheries Associations (FASAT) and the Canary Islands Institute of Agri-Food Quality are Binter and CajaSiete.
